Chocolate Cupcake

Itās Kyrieās (my nephew) birthday today. My sister was supposed to order a cake from someone else (a pro) but I proposed to make it as a gift. I actually insisted because she wasnāt confident with my baking and cake decorating skills. Well, at least not yet (Haha!). I do understand though because I havenāt done a lot of fondant cakes yet. However, I really wanted to practice (Hahahaha!) and of course, I wanted to give something special, something personal to my nephew on his first birthday.
I was really excited to make a cake like this but nervous at the same time. I donāt know why I always put myself in a risky position. THANK GOD it turned out okay. The two tiers were chocolate cakes (no Styrofoam). The top tier was ill-proportioned because I had to cover some areas where the fondant crumbled a bit. I didnāt realize it would be too heavy.
I was pressured because my sister was always telling me to do it well. Itās not perfect but Iām glad, or should I say relieved, that my sister liked it. Whew!!! It took me all night to put everything together. I finished at around 9 in the morning. I slept for only about 2 hours so I could make it to the par-tay!
The mom who ordered the Mickey Mouse cake for her son a little over a year ago re-ordered. This time itās for her daughter. Itās an honor to be entrusted with her childrenās cakes despite knowing that Iām still learning the ropes. A gracious customer, indeed!Ā ā¤ļø
Day 1
Day 2
My former colleague, Sam, invited me to go to the TLC festival event in BGC. I saw an advertisement about it and I read that Buddy Valastro of Cake Boss would be there. I always watch Cake Boss because the designs he and his team make are out of this world!
I decided to go because I thought we would see Buddy bake in person and learn new skills from him. (He didnāt though, but thatās fine.) Sam brought two of her friends, too. Janet Hsieh of Fun Taiwan was there and the two chefs that Iām not familiar with.
Anyway, a lot of people were waiting for Buddy Valastro. They had their cameras ready even when he was nowhere in sight yet. When he finally arrived with his wife, Lisa, everybody was screaming in joy for seeing the celebrity baker in person. I was surprised because I didnāt know a lot of people watch Cake Boss. I mean, I didnāt expect that a lot of people are interested in baking shows.
While the people were screaming, suddenly, I wondered if those people who were going crazy to see and greet their idol would also be as excited to meet Jesusā¦
I remember my young cousins who are so in love with their favorite boy bands. They keep themselves updated on their whereabouts and whatnot. One time I asked them why they obsess with their idols when their idols donāt even know that they exist.
I learned from Godās Word that our hearts are made to worship. God created us by Him and for Him.
āThe people whom I formed for Myself that they might declare My praise.ā ā Isaiah 43:21
āEveryone who is called by My name, whom I created for My glory, whom I formed and made.ā ā Isaiah 43:7
If we are not worshipping the Lord, we are worshipping something/someone else. God is a jealous God in its holiest sense of the word. He doesnāt want anything or anyone in His place. He wants us to worship Him because He deserves it.
āAscribe to the Lord the glory due his name; worship the Lord in the splendor of holiness.ā ā Psalm 29:2
